A couple of weeks ago I might have agreed with Berry on this one, but in their most recent rankings Adrian Beltre has moved up to 121st overall from somewhere between 275-325. In a few early mocks I was getting Beltre in the last round of the draft, now, he is getting picked between round 12-14 in ten team leagues. In round 25 Beltre was a steal, in round 12 he is far from a sleeper.
A better choice here would have been Clay Buchholz. He is ranked around 170 on ESPN.com and has an average draft position a few picks after that. Seeing the way Buchholz finished last season combined with the weight he added this off season and what seems to be a new found maturity I think he has a chance to be a top 25 starting pitcher. That would have him ranked right around pick 100 at the end of the year. The best case scenario for Beltre would be an end of the season ranking around the same place. If you look at it that way then the potential upside for Buchholz far out ranks his draft position where with Beltre the upside is far less.
